Tony was diagnosed with incurable advance stage prostate cancer in May and is currently receiving treatment at The Christie. A keen runner, he has previously completed the Comrades Ultra Marathon and was one of the first 30 people in the UK to complete the World Marathon Majors, as well as completing two full marathons in April this year prior to his diagnosis.
Since Tony began his treatment, running has been a major challenge for his body due to the side effects of his treatment and also a reduction in testosterone in his body, but his positive spirit and determination ensured that he completed the half marathon is 1 hour 56 minutes and raised an incredible £4,700!
Tony said: “The Christie and its people do amazing work helping people like me and it was a pleasure to take on the Manchester Half Marathon and raise much needed funds for them whilst I’m fit and well enough to do so. Those words ‘cancer’ and ‘incurable’ are something that it would be wonderful if no one else ever had to hear.”
