Complementary therapist (hand care) – The Christie at Oldham

Closing date: 30 April 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications)

The post holder will be primarily responsible for providing complementary therapy (hand care) as appropriate to previous level of training and insurance and associated preparatory tasks, to maintain and promote the well-being of patients and carers.  The post holder will work under supervision as part of a team.

Meet and Greet – The Christie at Oldham

The role of the volunteer is to enhance the patient’s experience of The Christie by providing services of a non-nursing, non-medical nature and to free up the time of the paid members of staff at all levels to enable them to carry out the duties which they are qualified to do.

The meet and greet role will involve signposting patients, dealing with general enquiries and providing an overview of processes within outpatients to visitors.

Meet and Greet Volunteer (Pharmacy)

Closing date: 30 April 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications) 

Role Description: The role of the volunteer is to enhance the patient’s experience of The Christie Pharmacy by providing services of a non-nursing, non-medical nature and to free up the time of the paid members of staff at all levels to enable them to carry out the duties which they are qualified to do. This is purely a meet and greet role which involves speaking to patients, organising the queuing system and dealing with general enquiries.

Volunteer Steering Group Member (Enhanced Supportive Care)

Closing date: 30 April 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications) 

Role Description: To ensure that the work that we do is informed by patients and the public we are asking patients or caregivers to volunteer their time and join a new steering group to represent patients of The Christie. The role will require you to be aware of the ESC service, either as a patient or caregiver. We would ask for your opinion regarding the running of the study, and any output from this.

Christie Charity Event Volunteer

Closing date: 30 April 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications)

Role description: The post holder will attend community fundraising events in Manchester and Greater Manchester on behalf of The Christie Charity fundraising team. This may include speaking about our work and running information and fundraising stalls. The Event volunteer role is for people dedicated to the work of The Christie Charity. The post holder will volunteer their time to represent the charity in their local community.

Christie Charity, May Draper Tea Bar Volunteer

Closing date: 30 April 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications)

Role description: The May Draper Tea Bar is a charity run tea bar located in The Christie hospital. It is staffed by volunteers and managed by The Christie Charity community team. Patients make a donation in return for their refreshments. Last year, the tea bar made a net profit of over £56,700 which went to help patients in the hospital.

The role of the volunteer is to help serve patients who visit the May Draper tea bar with refreshments in order to raise money for the charity and promoting work of the charity.

Meet and Greet Volunteer (Outpatients)

Role description: The role of the volunteer is to enhance the patient’s experience of The Christie by providing services of a non-nursing, non-medical nature and to free up the time of the paid members of staff at all levels to enable them to carry out the duties which they are qualified to do.

The outpatients department requires volunteers to assist patients with new patient flow kiosks that will be used to check-in. The role will also involve signposting patients, dealing with general enquiries and providing an overview of processes within outpatients to visitors.

Christie Charity Lottery Sign-Up Volunteer

Closing date: 31 May 2019 (please note: this volunteer role may close early if we receive a high number of applications) 

Role description: The role of the Christie Charity Lottery Sign-Up Volunteer is to set up and attend events in and around Greater Manchester to promote the Christie Charity Lottery.

The post holder will attend community fundraising events in Manchester and Greater Manchester on behalf of The Christie Charity fundraising team. This may include speaking about the lottery, signing people up to become a lottery member and talk about the benefits of becoming a member and how it can help the charity.  The lottery sign up volunteer role is for people dedicated to the work of The Christie Charity and they will volunteer their time to represent the charity in their local community.
