Tatton RHS Flower Show
RHS Flower Show - Tatton Park
Blooming marvellous – Tatton 2010
For the eighth year running, The Christie is exhibiting a garden at the RHS Tatton Flower Show. This year’s garden is a show garden called ‘Embracing tranquility’. The show is open to the public from the 22nd to the 25th July so please come along and enjoy the garden with us.
The garden – ‘Embracing tranquility’
Inspired by the ethos of The Christie, the garden has elements of healing and restoration at its core. It is designed as a hidden, tranquil space within a larger garden plot in a city setting. The plants used have medicinal or therapeutic qualities – yew contains taxins used in cancer treatment, and essential oil of lavender is used in palliative care.

The garden is a private refuge from a busy world. It couples a contemporary use of materials with elements of traditional monastic style. The limited colour palette creates a relaxing atmosphere. The Lakeland stone sphere forms a solid centre to the garden’s symmetry, contrasting with the softness of the planting and the movement of the water that frames the garden.
First time designer at RHS Tatton, Elizabeth Daley BA (hons) trained in garden design at the University of Central Lancashire. Her work is inspired by a variety of traditional styles which she melds with contemporary form and materials to produce useful, beautiful gardens to be enjoyed by those who dwell in them.
