Well known Hale artist Zita Elliott organised an art exhibition to raise money for the Christie Hospital and raised an amazing £3,200.
Zita, who has been painting for more than 18 years and is a member of Altrincham Society of Artists, sold more than 40 paintings and lots of Christmas cards, with all proceeds going towards the specialist cancer treatment centre. The paintings include scenes of the Lake District, Cornwall and Tuscany, as well as wildlife and flowers from Zita’s own garden.
The week-long exhibition was held at Hale library and it is the second exhibition Zita has organised for the Christie Hospital. She held a similar event in 2002 which raised more than £2,000. She was supported in the event for the Christie’s Altrincham and Sale Fundraising Team.
Zita said: “I am very aware of the wonderful work going on at the Christie and I achieve a great deal of pleasure by pursuing a passion which is of benefit to others. I was delighted to get so much support and really pleased my work has raised this money for a very worthy cause.
