M&S Money cough up the cash
Staff from M&S Money in Chester
A team of volunteers has transformed a garden at The Christie after donating their time to pitch in with their trowels and spades.
The group, who all work at M&S Money in Chester, offered their services for one day and staff at the hospital suggested they help out with a garden that was in need of renovation.
M&S staff fundraised to pay for all the equipment they needed including plants, shrubs, paint and decking. And once they'd got everything together, they turned up en masse to get their fingers grubby. The result was a fabulous garden which will now be used by patients at the specialist cancer treatment centre.
Christie, corporate and events officer Emma Kennedy said: "The team from M & S really worked hard and the Christie Hospital now has a fabulous garden to show for their efforts. I am sure it will be used by many of our patients, and it will provide a lovely space to relax away from the hustle and bustle of our busy hospital. Those who have already used it have been delighted with the new look."
M&S Money is one of many companies who help out The Christie by fundraising and volunteering time. If you would like to get involved, contact Emma Kennedy at emma.kennedy@christies.org for more information.
