A Prestwich mum who won more than £7,000 on a local radio competition has donated 10 percent of her winnings to The Christie Hospital.
Julie Taylor, aged 34, decided to make the generous gesture after seeing first hand the work that goes on at the famous cancer treatment centre when a close family member was treated at the Christie.
Julie entered the ‘Sell Me the Answer' competition on Key 103 in September and no matter what she won, she promised to donate a proportion to The Christie as a thank you. She was hugely successful in the competition and won £7,400.
Julie, manager of a dry cleaning store in Prestwich, has now kept up her promise - and has just given the Christie a cheque for £740.
She said: "When I realized I was in with a chance of winning a large amount of money, I knew I had to give some of it to a worthy cause, and after my experiences of visiting The Christie, it was the obvious choice. I was thrilled to win the money, but even more delighted to donate a part of it to helping cancer patients."
