Press Release - 20th June 2006
SUMMER FAYRE AT THE CHRISTIE
Ryan Thomas
Christie Friends is hosting a summer fayre on Saturday July 1st.
Taking place at The Christie from 1pm to 4pm, organisers are hoping the event will prove even more successful than an Easter Fayre which raised £4,500 and was officially opened by Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas.
As well as stalls and fun family activities, visitors will also have a unique opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at two important departments at The Christie, one of Europe's largest cancer treatment centres.
Staff will be completing tours around the Derek Crowther Unit where clinical trials are carried out. It is one of the main centres for clinical trials in the UK, with around 400 different trials currently in progress. The Wade Centre will also be open. It is a purpose-built research facility for advanced radiotherapy - the only one of its kind in the UK.
Christie Friends is a fundraising team which raises money for support services for patients, their families and carers at The Christie. The group is always on the look out for new members and helpers.
