- Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride for Christie's -Sunday July 16th
More than 4,000 cyclists will be flocking to Manchester's Albert Square on Sunday morning to line-up for Christie's annual Manchester to Blackpool BikeRide.
Many will be in fancy dress to raise funds for Manchester's Christie Hospital,including a coach full of men in their twenties and thirties who will be dressed as old grannies.
Taking place for the 20th time, Christie's Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride raised almost £210,000 last year for Europe's largest cancer treatment and research centre- and this year the charity is keen to do even better.
Starting at Manchester city centre's Albert Square on Sunday July 16, the 60-mile route takes entrants, including adults, children and pensioners, through leafy country lanes in Leigh, Haigh Hall, Eccleston, Preston and Kirkham, through to the finish at Stanley Park in Blackpool.
Once finished, riders can recover with their family and friends and enjoy music and a barbecue.
Cyclists will be leaving Albert Square every fifteen minutes between 7.30am and 9.15am.Cyclists are expected to arrive in Blackpool between 11.30am and 5pm.
