TAMESIDE
FUNDRAISERS ARE THE CATS' WHISKERS
Tameside CATS
Christie's Appeal Tameside Section – better
known as CATS – has celebrated another purrfect
year of fundraising for Europe's largest cancer
treatment and research centre, collecting a massive £32,000
in just twelve months.
The impressive sum means the group
has now smashed through the £250,000 target it set itself, having now raised
an amazing £270,000 for The Christie.
CATS
chairman Janet Power says: “It has taken
us almost eight years, but we're delighted to hit
the quarter of a million mark. We thought we'd
do it this year, so we're even more pleased that
we've beat it by £20,000. Now we can't
wait to make half a million!CATS celebrated the marvellous
landmark at a recent party. It was the climax to
a year of fundraising events
including collections, sales and auctions. There have
also been important donations from local organisations,
pubs and clubs.
Janet added: “We've had tremendous support
from our local community. We certainly wouldn't
do as well without the kindness of the people of Tameside,
and for that we're very grateful.”
Christie fundraising officer Rachel Carter knows
the team does a fabulous job. She said: “I'm
really pleased that CATS have hit this wonderful landmark.
They work extremely hard and we couldn't ask for
more dedicated and hard working volunteers.”
CATS covers
a wide area including Ashton, Hyde, Mossley, Dukinfield,
Droylsden, Audenshaw, Stalybridge and Glossop.
