Press Release - 21st December 2005
TLC - THE
PERFECT TONIC FOR CHRISTIE'S
Tender Loving Care (TLC) Ladies Committee has been living
up to its name by raising a fabulous £150,000 for
equipment and research at Manchester's The Christie.
TLC, a group of housewives from the Prestwich area, was
formed in 1996 to raise money for Europe's largest
cancer treatment and research centre, and their impressive
total now stands at a fabulous £156,000.
The money raised has gone towards various projects at
the famous cancer hospital, including breast and bowel
cancer research. But now, the group is well underway with
its latest target - to raise £60,000 to upgrade
the facilities and room in which a new gamma camera and
CT scanner will be installed in the hospital's Department
of Nuclear Medicine.
At their latest event, a Zu Zu evening at Cheetham Hill
Cricket Club, the ladies celebrated their marvellous success
with yet more fundraising, selling toys and bric a brac.
Christie regional appeals officer Jacky Plant says: "They're
just amazing ladies. They are extremely dedicated and are
always coming up with different ideas for raising money.
This is a fabulous total and their efforts help to keep
The Christie at the forefront of cancer treatment and research."
Next on the agenda for TLC is a fabulous evening of variety
entertainment on March 5th at the Dancehouse Theatre, Oxford
Road, Manchester where they hope to raise more than their £60,000
target. Tickets, costing £20 for adults and £15
for children are available from the Dancehouse Theatre
on 0161 237 1413.
