There is still time to dust off your running shoes and raise
money for a worthy cause by entering the all:sports Wilmslow Half Marathon
2005.
Christie's has once again been chosen as the
official
charity of the race which takes place on Sunday March 20th. This
year, the proceeds will be shared with East Cheshire Hospice.
Both the
The Christie, the largest cancer treatment and research centre in
Europe, and East Cheshire Hospice work tirelessly to
improve the quality of life for people living with cancer and other
life-threatening illnesses whilst at the same time supporting their
families and carers in Cheshire, Greater Manchester and beyond.
Christie
Special Projects Officer, Dawn Rodgers, said: "Running
the Wilmslow Half is a tremendous experience and we want people to
make it even more worthwhile by joining the charity team and raising
sponsorship to help both charities. We would advise people to move
quickly though as this is a popular race which always fills up fast."
Last year's Wilmslow Half Marathon raised more than £135,000
for The Christie's Adult Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund and
it would be fantastic if we could beat that total in 2005.
Registration
for this popular annual half marathon has already opened and registration
forms are available via the official race website
- www.wilmslowhalf.org.uk. It is also possible to register online.
Everyone
who runs for Christie's and the East Cheshire Hospice will
receive a free limited edition T-shirt (subject to
availability), sponsorship forms and letter recognising their support
