& City Stars Put Christie's Streets Ahead
Coronation Street All Stars
Stars from Coronation Street and Manchester City Football
Club donned their football boots to take on staff from Manchester's
Christie
Hospital in a charity match to raise money for the specialist cancer
treatment centre.
Coronation Street stars such as Ryan Thomas (Jason),
Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Andy Whyment (Kirk) were joined by
a few select
ringers including actors Mark Moraghan (Dr Owen Davies from Holby
City) and William Ash (Where the Heart Is and Burn It) in the match.
Following
a closely fought game, the Coronation Street All Stars proved victorious,
beating by The Christie by four goals
to one.
Ryan Thomas, who volunteers in the tea bar at The Christie in
his spare time, scored, along with Trevor Dwyer Lynch (Patrick), Tony
Steenson (manager) and Mike Sweeney (radio DJ).
And the other celebrity
match saw hospital staff taking on Manchester City Old Boys with Christie's
putting in an impressive performance,
beating the former professionals five goals to three.

Officer, Dawn Rodgers, said: "We
would like to thank Manchester County FA and both our celebrity teams
for making it such a memorable occasion. Fortunately the weather
was on our side and everyone had a fantastic time raising money for
a very worthy cause."
