Christie's
and JCDecaux join forces in the fight against Cancer
Christie Advert
Christie's Hospital in Manchester, the largest single-site
cancer treatment centre in Europe, is launching a new fundraising
initiative this week. Various 48 and 6-sheet poster sites in and
around the city will display posters specially created for Christie's
over the next 12 months, encouraging the public to send in a donation
by cheque. The poster message is a play on words to make people
think, and subsequently make a donation. The poster sites are donated
by Outdoor Media company JCDecaux as part of the company's
2004 charity initiative.
The Christie is an international
leader in cancer research and development. As a specialist unit,
patients travel to The Christie
from all over the North West and beyond.
Rachel Daniel from Christie's Hospital said: “This
ongoing poster campaign is a fantastic opportunity for us to build
on the good levels of awareness that we have in our patient catchment
area. The posters will be an excellent platform from which to broadcast
a call to action to the public. The play on words will make people
think and encourage them to make that important and much-needed
donation. Being offered the poster sites by JCDecaux is a fabulous
opportunity for us and will help to communicate our message with
vast numbers of potential donations”.
John Wolstenholme, JCDecaux's Director of Regional Sales
said “Christie's Hospital plays a vital role in many
people's lives, not only in Manchester, but across the North
of the country. Christie's was the perfect partner for JCDecaux's
North West charity initiative and we are delighted to be involved
in such an important project and cause at a local level”.
Look
out for the 48-sheet and 6-sheet posters in the coming months.
