Having Your Cake And Eating It......
Having Your Cake And Eating It...... Tempting The Christie The Christie charityr Jacky Plant with some tasty
flapjack are young neighbours Rachel Bass, 12, and David Ciaramella,
11, who found a novel way of satisfying a sweet tooth and helping
the specialist cancer centre at the same time.
The two children hit on the idea of holding a cake sale in their
street, Chilcote Avenue in Sale, and persuaded their families and
friends to help them bake the goodies. They also produced and distributed
leaflets advertising the event.
Rachel, a pupil at Ashton upon Mersey School, and David, who attends
Sale Grammar School, raised £75.94 for Christie's.
Says Jacky Plant: "Rachel and David's parents are very proud
of them. They did really well and it was so good of them to think
of Christie's, which always needs money for the fight against cancer.
They say they enjoyed organising the cake sale and I can believe
it - they re both great fun".
