MANAGERS PUSHED 48 PEDALS ON JUST ONE BIKE!
MANAGERS PUSHED 48 PEDALS ON JUST ONE BIKE It was very hard going.... but a
team of Whitbread group managers pedal pushed a huge 24-seater bike
15 miles around Manchester and raised more than £2,000 for Christie
Hospital.
The gruelling ride was the latest - and toughest - event in the Whitbread
group s campaign to raise £250,000 for the acclaimed cancer centre.
Averaging 10 to 15 miles an hour, they called in at various group
outlets - including Pizza Hut, David Lloyd Leisure, Beefeater and
Brewers Fayre inns and restaurants - where staff held collections
and events such as a children s disco. The cyclists route took them
through Didsbury, White City, Salford Quays and the Trafford Centre.
"It was great fun. We all managed to stay the course although
it was pretty hard on the leg muscles," said Colin Broadhurst,
general manager of The Priory Wood Beefeater and Travel Inn, Wigan.
Colin and many other riders are on the Whitbread fundraising committee
organising events for Christie's.
