Rock Radio Manchester names Manchester Million as nominated charity for 2008/9
Rock Radio 106.1 FM Manchester’s first Classic Rock radio station, 106.1 Rock Radio, has chosen the manchester Million appeal as it's nominated charity for 2008/9.
106.1 Rock Radio, launched earlier this year in Manchester with a huge concert to over 5,000 rock fans, plays the cream of classic rock and has become an instant hit with listeners who call into shows and communicate through the website in their droves.
Joe Radcliffe, Station Director of Rock Radio, said of the tie up; “Manchester Million really connected with the 106.1 Rock Radio brand as it seeks to help our core audience – the men of Manchester. Sadly, many cancers exclusive to men like prostate and testis don’t get prominence and get overlooked in terms of funding. The same goes for bladder and kidney cancer of which a large proportion of sufferers are men. The Manchester focus makes this a great pairing and we look forward to making a difference in the fight against men’s cancers.”
106.1 Rock Radio will run various fund raising events throughout the year including donating all proceeds from their annual ‘Bring A Pound To Work Day.’

Trafford Housing Trust Trafford Housing Trust is supporting the Manchester Million appeal and raising money for research into male cancers at The Christie. Unfortunately Manchester and the North West have some of the highest numbers of men’s cancers in the UK. The Manchester Million appeal, whilst raising much needed funds to help fight men’s cancers, also aims to create awareness to encourage men to get themselves checked out.
Trafford Housing Trust have an exciting range of fundraising activities planned for their year of support, including their Unsung Heroes Awards night on the 26th September 2008, as well as dress down days and raffles.
