The Walk of Hope
Put your best foot forward for The Christie
Walk of Hope
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the 2009 Walk of Hope.
The fantastic weather on the day meant that spirits were high and it was great to see so many people joining Team Christie and taking part in this fantastic event through the stunning scenery of Tatton Park.
Once the Doves of Peace had been launched it was time for our walkers to set off, as they reached the half way point they took a moment for reflection at Tatton Mere, where they had an opportunity to write down a message of hope on a pebble before throwing it into the mere. As dusk started to set and our weary walkers made their way to the end they were greeted by the Lights of Hope which were illuminating from the paper lanterns that were decorated by all of our walkers earlier on and by music provided by Soul Band ‘Casino Domino’. Many walkers settled down for a massage provided by the Christie Complementary Therapy Team and others enjoyed a picnic and enjoyed the sunset. Once dusk turned to night a candle lit vigil was held by Kevin Dunn, the Christie chaplain whilst surrounded by the light which was emanating from the lanterns, marking off a perfect day with a special climax.
Huge thanks to all of our volunteers from Knutsford Scouts, St Johns Ambulance, The Christie Complementary Therapy Team, Wings of Love, Casino Domino and our very own team of Christie volunteers who all very kindly gave their time to ensure that this years event ran smoothly and that everybody had a fantastic time. Thanks also to Barr Soft Drinks, McVities, Faith In Nature, Autograph Portraits, Green People, Twinning’s and Love Lula for supporting the event and very generously providing water and items for our goody bags.
Last years Walk of Hope raised thousands for The Christie and we hope this year to raise even more. So once again thank you to all of you who joined us at this years Walk of Hope for making it such a special occasion and good luck collecting the remainder of your sponsorship.
