Manchester United Santa Run
MUFC Santa Run
A huge thank you to all of the wonderful Santas and their little helpers who took part in the 2009 Manchester United Santa Run!
Over 160 Christie Santas joined Fred the Red and Christie Bear in donning their running shoes and racing around the hallowed turf on 6th December. We thank each and every one of you for braving the winter’s cold to be a part of what we hope you’ll agree was a fantastic day.
The money raised from Team Christie at the event will help to fund important extra rehabilitation for our young cancer patients. This will enable them to regain independence and help them adjust to their life after a diagnosis of cancer.
The event started with Fred the Red and Christie Bear kicking off the Serious Santas that were lined up to run the 5km route. This was followed by the family run which saw hordes of Santas race around the shorter 2km route. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and members of the reserve squad kicked off this final race and the atmosphere was fantastic as the sea of Chris Cringles prepared to make the run around the famous stadium. This year, both races finished with a lap inside the stadium itself and there was even time for a photo of all of the Santas in the stands!
Overall we hope that everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did and hope that it helped to kick start your Christmas festivities. The Christmas stalls and carol singers helped to bring out the festive cheer and Santa himself even made an appearance! The Santa Run was a great way to start the season of goodwill and the money that you have raised will really make a huge difference to our young patients.
We hope to have raised lots of money from the Santa Run and to help us to do this please send in your sponsorship monies as soon as possible. And remember, all those who raise over £400 in sponsorship will also be entered into a draw for a Manchester United football signed by the first team!
