Great Manchester run
The Christie charity has been chosen as the official local charity for next year’s BUPA Great Manchester Run on Sunday 16th May 2010!
Katy Cavanagh
Thousands of participants have run for The Christie since the Great Manchester Run was launched in 2003, but this is the first time it has been selected as the main local charity. We have been chosen by Manchester City Council for the next three years and are now hoping that you will join us to create the biggest and best Team Christie yet!
Joy Division and New Order's Peter Hook and Coronation Street's Katy Cavanagh, who plays factory worker Julie Carp in the soap, have already signed up to run the race to raise money for The Christie, together with Bury born actrees and model Gemma Atkinson who is currently touring the country with the award winning play 'Calendar Girls'. Why not join them and take part in this fantastic event to raise much needed funds in support of The Christie.

Need a place?
- The last 10,000 places in the Great Manchester Run are being allocated via a public ballot. The ballot is due to close on 5th February at www.greatrun.org.
- If you are unsuccessful in the ballot, you may wish to consider applying for a Christie charity place in this year’s event. The Christie has a limited number of charity places in the 2010 run which are available in return a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of £200. Demand for these places is expected to be high - if you would like to be considered for a Christie place then please complete the online application form. As a charity we are still required to pay for these places and therefore you will be asked to cover your own registration fee.
