Leaving a gift in your will
"Eight years
ago I discovered a lump in my right breast.I know in my heart that I'm only
alive today because of Christie's and my own quick action. A future with my
family and friends is their legacy to me. My legacy to them is to leave a
little something in my will, to help them ensure a future for others. " - Maureen Reid, ex-Christie's patient
A very valuable source of income for Christie's, comes to us from bequests.
Many of the important projects underway at the moment rely on the generosity of
kind-hearted people who had the foresight to include a donation to us in their
will. Please read through the following information which outlines how
beneficial and valued legacies are to the work of The Christie.
Where there's a Will. there's real hope
It's
one of the most natural human wishes to do something to make sure that those we
leave behind are well taken care of. That's our legacy. That's why we make our
Will. We know that, whatever it's value is, it will make a difference, it will
mean real help.. bring real hope... to a family or friends or even a favourite
charity.
At Christie's, we have no doubt what our legacy is... or who will benefit. We
are the largest single-site cancer research and treatment centre in Europe with
an international reputation for excellence. Our legacy is very simple. It's
life. And anyone who suffers from cancer is a beneficiary.
Much of the vital work we do is funded by bequests. These come to us from the
Wills of those whose lives were touched by cancer in some way. It's their
legacy to us. Their way of saying "thank you" for fighting. For caring.
For giving hope where before there was only despair. Perhaps it can be your
legacy too..........

The heartfelt legacy campaign
Christie's has recently joined forces with three other charities to launch a
major new campaign to encourage local people to consider leaving a gift in
their will to local causes. The Heartfelt Legacy Campaign, which unites St
Ann's Hospice, Christie's, The Together Trust and Henshaws Society for Blind
People, has been backed by Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls, who is a keen
supporter of all four charities.

Legacies are a vital source of income for local charities. But recent patterns
suggest that some people are beginning to ignore more local causes in support
of the UK's largest national charities which are often more visible because
they have larger marketing budgets. The aim of the campaign is to show people
that local support is extremely important to local causes - and leaving a
legacy will help these charities to continue to provide their essential causes
in the future.
