Christie’s are delighted to have been chosen as the charity partner of Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) for 2009.
Throughout the year, LCCC will conduct a series of activities that will help generate awareness for the work The Christie do and also raise funds which will go towards a new £35 million patient treatment centre.
The club already has plans for lots of exciting activities including a “Christie’s Day” at a home match this summer, a “Cricket Challenge 6-a-side Competition Day” for corporate businesses, bucket collections and much more.
Commenting on the new partnership, Lancashire's Commercial Director Geoff Durbin said;
“In previous years, Lancashire County Cricket Club has supported several charities during a season, but in 2009 we have chosen to pool our resources and help make a significant contribution to one of the North West’s leading charities. All our supporters will know someone who has been helped by the fantastic work The Christie does on a daily basis, and hopefully through a series of fundraising events the club has planned this year, we can raise additional funds so The Christie can continue their life changing work.”
Christie’s Head of Corporate Fundraising Laura Baynham-Hughes said; “We’re delighted to be working so closely with Lancashire County Cricket Club. They have great ideas, and terrific enthusiasm. “
LCCC Captain Glen Chapple; “I was delighted to hear that the club had chosen Christie’s to support during the forthcoming season. The Christie provides a vital service for not only the North West community but to people throughout the UK. I know LCCC and Christie’s have some fantastic events organised in 2009, and I urge all our supporters to get behind this partnership and help the club to raise much needed funds for The Christie.”
