RELEASE Swing and Sinatra night for Christie Lovers A three course dinner with soft lights, swing band and the smooch sounds of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. That's the £20 a head menu on offer this Valentine's Night from the South Manchester team of Christie supporters who operate throughout Didsbury, Withington, Wythenshawe, Levenshulme and Stretford. Already it has enticed several couples to come and celebrate their wedding anniversaries with them at the Britannia Country House Hotel, Northenden, on Wednesday February 14. 'Explained 'home team' chairman Bert Thomas of Brooklands. "This is the final year of the £25m 'Christie's' appeal and, having raised £20,000 in our first year we are starting our own 2001 campaign on a romantic note'. The idea came from 'ole blue eyes' himself, otherwise Altrincham tailor-singer Brian Mason who has done his Sinatra act at 'Stars In Their Eyes' events to help the team's campaign. He is bringing with him the Ken Ward Swing & Jive Band and singer Alan Robbins - plus a special Manchester United signed team shirt for the raffle. However the eyes of Bert and co. are firmly fixed on ticket receipts at Christie's Appeals Office: 0161 446 3988. He explained "Sales are off to a good start and its great that couples want to mark their own anniversaries by helping Christie's. We can take up to 125 couples - courting or otherwise - and if we do that then we too will have a lovely evening." Ends For further
