RELEASE Sport helps Shashi support Christie's
His latest venture was a 'Champagne Badminton' tournament for family and friends throughout South Manchester. Nearly 40 turned up at Cheadle Recreation Centre where 50-year-old Shashi and his family are regular players. He hired half the courts for the day, provided vintage bubbly as prizes and they raised £1,847 which will go towards creating a £3.4m world class Gene Therapy Centre a key project within the £25m 'Christie's' appeal. Added to their previous efforts it means that Shashi and co. have now raised some £8,000 for Manchester's world famous cancer centre. Shashi himself has been a patient since 1989 but he has raised money for almost 20 years because cancer caused the death of several close members of his family. Ends For further
