RELEASE Pub's new 150ft drop-in for Christie's Anyone thinking of going to the 'Hare and Hounds' for a quiet Sunday pint could soon find themselves in for the high jump - 150 feet to be exact. The noted Timperley hostelry has adopted 'Christie's' as its charity and, having kicked off its fund raising with a Bank Holiday Fun Day which raised £651, is next holding .......an all-day bungee jump. The fun day with its bucking bronco, eliminator, bouncy castle, face painting, barbecue and music attracted hundreds of families. Now pub staff expect their bungee jump to go down at least as well. It's the idea of staff member Rick Brownhill (21) of Baguley whose father David, a printer, died from cancer a year ago. Many pub staff and customers are down to make the big drop on Sunday September 24 for the £25m centenary appeal of Manchester's famous cancer centre. They include Rick's brother Graham, a temporary barman during vacation from Loughborough University. "So far we have given out 50 sponsorship forms and need at least 60 people to make this really work for Christie's," said Rick. "Graham's definitely going to jump and I'm gradually being talked into it. But the more the merrier. Bungee jumping is almost as great to watch as it is to take part." The drop from a huge crane towering over the pub's old bowling green is being organised by specialists UK Bungee Ltd. Anyone who raises over £100 can free fall - if you'll pardon the expression. Full details from Rick or anyone at the Hare & Hounds on 0161 980 5299. Otherwise: Christie's Appeals Office: 0161 446 3988 Ends Issued by Anne Statham PR tel: 01625 526479/521279 |
