PRESS RELEASE
17th December 2000
Janet's beauty-full thank you to Christie's

A lovely line-upJanet Potter and friends have just said a beauty-full thank you to Christie's Hospital by raising £838.

Janet (34) who lives in Stalybridge has twice been a patient at Manchester's world famous cancer centre. A beauty consultant at Boots' main Stockport store, she used her know-how and that of colleagues, plus the ready support of other stores throughout Stockport's Merseyway shopping centre, to organise an extra-ordinary beauty evening for the £25m 'Christie's' appeal.

First the store and staff helped sell the special £5 tickets and for a raffle to supported by other Merseyway shops. Manchester City and Stockport County both gave balls signed by their teams and Halfords donated a bike. Then Janet and her colleagues worked on voluntarily with the store staying open to accommodate more than 100 extra special shoppers. The customers enjoyed make-overs, fine fragrance layering, manicures and electrical personal care treatments. Janet even got herself sponsored to make-over the store's acting DJ Gavin Wheelan.

All of which left Christie's regional appeals officer Jacky Plant (centre) to receive the cheque from an equally blooming Janet, (on her left), and her other willing helpers.
