PRESS RELEASE
31st October 2000
A 'Big Night Out' is Christie's Nemesis?

With ten quality acts to showcase and a whopping £45,000 cheque to be presented by an Oldham based team of cancer fund raisers, it will certainly be a 'Big Night Out' at Rochdale's Nemesis night spot on Tuesday (November 21).

The Sandbrook Park club and MBM entertainment company are combining their efforts for the £25m 'Christie's' appeal. It is hoped up some 2,000 revellers will buy the £5 tickets to support Manchester's famous cancer centre either via Piccadilly Box Office hotline 0161 832 1111 or www.ticketline.co.uk They can be also be obtained from pubs throughout the Rochdale and Oldham areas.

During the event Christie's local supporter's group will present all the money they have raised in the last year - over £45,000. It means that, in total, they have so far contributed nearly £150,000 towards the appeal's aims of funding research, new patient facilities and developing more effective cancer treatments to mark the hospital's centenary in 2001.

MBM are providing a varied line up with BBC GMR's Fred Fielder as compere. Artists include: Abb-a-Live, Andrew Warner's tribute band; Edwin Dukes (soul & motown); Paula Jay (tributing Shania Twain); Jon Paul (Robbie Williams); Maria Marcou and Claire Renae (both modern pop); solo male singers Gary Connor and Rick Begley plus the ten strong 'Turn It Loose' live soul and disco band.
